What Noah Knew

Today, I was listening to one of my favorite Southern Gospel groups, The Collingsworth Family. My favorite song from them is called "What Noah Knew." If any of you know the story of Noah, you know that he was a man of great faith. There was no rain on Earth before Noah. God had told Noah to build an ark, load up his family along with two of each animal, then lock up the ark for forty days while floating in water. Noah had no clue that water could come from the sky. All he knew was that God told him to build an ark. He had the faith that I can only imagine having.

Hebrews 11:7 (KJV) says "By faith Noah, being warned of God od things not seen as yet, moved with fear, prepared an ark to the saving of his house; by the which he condemned the world, and became heir of righteousness which is by faith." Noah feared the Lord, knowing that God knew what He was talking about, and followed in that fear to build the ark and ended up saving his family. As a matter of fact, he saved the future of the entire planet that day. We are all descendants of Noah because at this point in time, his family was the only one to survive.

One lesson I can take from Noah is the lesson of faith. There may be things that God asks me to do that I think are pretty crazy. However, I need to be more like Noah in taking steps of faith. God may not ask me to build an ark or travel halfway across the world, but I still need to be willing to do whatever His will may be. I need to diligently seek His will in prayer and Bible reading and then follow in it with faith, and I hope you cna do the same.
